I recall reading about backchannel negotiations that were attempted by Austro-Hungarian Emperor Charles I in an attempt to end WW1. (He was working through the Vatican IIRC). Does anyone know what the terms he was floating were? I'm interested in what sort of terms the Central Powers would have accepted (or dictated) if the Great War had ended differently, or earlier.
